Horrible. The 49ers just screwd the pooch on that one.
Eh. I'd rather give Kap that kind of money than Ryan, Romo, or Cutler who all got over 50 mil guaranteed. Likely means with a good year, Foles is gonna break the bank.
and this never had anything to do with Colin Kaepernick.
It has a little to do with him. The market is now set for a good QB needing an extension going into his 4th year. If Kap had gotten 45 mil, Foles would likely have made a little less than he will with a good year now.
Nick foles agent convinced the jets to wire over 50 million into mark sanchez' bank account. You really think he needs kaepernick to set a market for foles?
If foles has a good year it won't matter what anyone was paid before.
a) The difference between Foles being a winning playoff qb and not is shit special teams and defense after he took the offense in for the go-ahead score in crunch time.
b) As for that contract, as usual, it isn't as simple (or lucrative) as initial reports.
"In 32 career games, Kaepernick has 40 total TDs, 11 INTs and 15 fumbles. Foles in 20 games has 37 total TDs, 7 INTs and 12 fumbles."
Ok? Stats don't tell the whole story.
I like Kaepernick the player better than Foles the player right now.
Foles had a good year. If he has another like last year, then he's truly a franchise QB. No slight to Foles, I just want him to prove that what we saw last year is the real him before I board the Nick Express.
If you're running a franchise and you give big contracts to every player who looks good over a 10 game span and don't make them prove it over a larger sample size, then you won't be running a franchise very long.
