Now that the change the R's name campaign is fully underway, is it time to start looking at the Giants?

With there record it has to be an insult to larger people everywhere to be associated with such a name.

Where's PSU, he could "head" this up.

This is a good idea. Probably offensive to the good citizens of York to have their new city represented by such a team, so they should change the city name as well. New Jersey Little People should be what they are called.

While we're at it, Cowboys have been responsible for the deaths of thousands of Native Americans and cattle, so they should go to. Perhaps the Dallas Stable Boys. Only the Eagles shall remain unaltered, for eagles represent our nation's birds with dignity.

Nothing in my post defended him...I attacked the PC movement that drives me crazy and addressed the fact that pushing legislators to change the name is good time that could be spend better elsewhere.

So when the feds pushed Marshall to integrate the team so many years ago...was that a waste of time, as well?

Absolutely not. People were legitimately and intimately effected in that circumstance. Having separate campuses for different races is ludicrous and not the same as the name of a team. People's feelings may be hurt by the name "Redskins" but it doesn't effect their lives. Slag makes a fantastic illustration of why the name is offensive and should be changed...I'm not arguing it. I just think there are bigger issues. I'm fine with people protesting it...Not fine with politicians spending time trying to get rid of it.

There are always "bigger" issues. Solving world hunger and curing cancer are pretty big issues - why does the government get a pass for focusing on anything but those bigger issues?

1 person wrote a letter, a bunch of interns and low- level slackers did some background work and the Senators spent 8 seconds signing it.
Then they dropped it in the free mail.

PC drives you crazy because you don't like imaginary people telling you what to do/not do.

                    Its just human nature.

But if the owner of this board politely asked you not to use the R word here anymore, you'd acquiesce in a nano-second and never give it a 2nd thought
The difference is your feelings about some straw-man evil PC group that doesn't even really exist.

Cultures evolve; slower in some quarters than others

I guess I agree...It's hard to articulate how I feel in a forum. But the main thing is I get sick of hearing about issues like this. Not because I'm anti any group (gay, black, Indian whatever) - not even close...And not that I don't care about them...I want all people to be treated equal and to have the same rights we all share. I get sick of the media shoving it down my throat I guess. I would rather hear more about concussion testing, pension rights, financial planning for all the players going bankrupt, etc...Not the name of a team etc...

so turn off the media, problem solved
Then you are back to being in charge of what goes down your throat

Its not that difficult and my guess is you'll find life a lot more pleasant

The reason "they" rile you up is because that's their job.
Your job is to decide if you'll allow them to continue or not

                        Good luck

The Govt doesn't want to cure cancer. Too much $$$ to be made.

Walking up to someone and announcing their race seems kind of weird.

Would you walk up to a black guy and say "Hello, Black man"? Just seems kind of weird, right?

If the argument is that Redskin is not offensive then why not? But I see your point. Would you describe a native american co-worker as a Redskin?

You- Hey did Jim bring you the TPS report?

                              Random coworker- Who is Jim?

You- Jim...the redskin who works in IT.

You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

Seminole, Sioux are tribes. There is not a Redskin tribe.
