  • Can somebody PLEASE help me understand why the Sixers would trade MCW?

You know what you have in him...already proved himself at NBA level. Why would you roll the dice w/ Exum? Wouldn't your goal be to add pieces to MCW, not start over?

The argument for trading MCW is:

Yes he won ROY, but it was a down rookie class. He put up good stats, but that was on a team that for a large chunk of the year, had nobody else to shoot the ball. His outside shot is suspect. His value will most likely never be higher.

I'm not saying I want to trade him, I'm not saying I don't. I want Hinkie to make whatever move he thinks best sets the Sixers up for future success.

Damn, that's tough. I just hope we don't have to subtract 2 pieces to gain one.

I agree. I think Jay is referring to all the chatter surrounding this "possibility."

I hate all the talk RE: Sixers in this draft. I hope it's ALL untrue. The draft is a COMPLETE crapshoot. If your team owns 2 picks in the top 10, and last year you got the ROY...you STAY put and take the 2 best players available, regardless of position.

          PERIOD.

            I disagree...

            Get Wiggins (but keep MCW).

Because exum is better than him flat and simple and hopefully they can pick up a lottery pick like the lakers 7th pick and get Aaron Gordon or randle

I'll accept it if it happens

But MCW is better than some make him out to be. He has great size for the position and is an excellent defender. Yeah he needs to work on his jump shot but he's 22 and that is a part of his game he could easily improve. The intangibles are there.

Wasn't he drafted on potential? 22 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds, and 9 steals in his first game, and against the Heat too. That's INSANE. Everyone knows that the rest of the team blew but you don't put up the kind of numbers he did, especially the assists, without being pretty damn good.

Would you trade MCW for the 1st overall pick even though you've never seen any of the draftees play in the NBA yet?

At this point I have to trust Hinkie, if he thinks he can sell high on MCW and draft a better player at his position and add a top 10 pick, I'm ok with it.

Rookie class sucked this year guys. Just because he won ROY doesn't mean he will have a better career than exum... You guys act like mcw had some untouchable year with his horrific 40% from the field and 26% from the three point line and averaging around 4 Turnovers a game... He was the sixers best player... They were that fucking bad. Why not pick an extra lottery pick up when you can get a guy who is A) much quicker than he is B) rumored to be improving his jump shot C) better intangibles D)Will be a better defender... Watch exums tape. Dude will be a stud.. Get the 7th pick and the 10th and pick up two more quality young players..

                          Easy...

...so they can get a 7-foot center with a foot/knee injury in return. They're BIG on those.
