There is a plus side to the inevitable. When Germany bends "us" over and Ghana sticks it in tomorrow, we will be prepared. Think of the millions of heartbroken US fans that don't know the chicken nearly as well as we do, in Philly.

Beside that, I guess we are rooting for Portugal outside the draw because of the bigger differential. Even if "we" lose by one and Ghana wins by one, we'll be tied on differential too. Then I think it goes to goals for which is also close. We'll end up losing out after lots get drawn.

I'm sure there is an answer, but what would they do if in one group, all 6 games ended in a 0-0 tie.

Each team would have 3 points, each team would have 0 goals for, 0 goals against and nobody would have a head-to-head advantage.

Goal differential is the first tie breaker... US is +1, Ghana is -1, Portugal is -4. So a 1 goal win by Portugal is best case if there's no draw.

When it boils down to it, we advanced because Germany beat Portugal's ass badly last week. Odd how that works.
