If they have the medical records and Hinkie does not believe it is a long term thing then go for it. He may have been number 1 overall but for the injury. And its not like they don't have time. They are probably a lottery team again next year anyway. Keep all the picks and stockpile as much young talent as possible. I feel a little better about the whole situation than I did a few days ago.

The NBA is so star-dependent that you do what you have to in order to get one. If that's taking an injured Embiid and stashing him for half the season or more and picking in the lottery again, that's fine. If that's paying a king's ransom for Wiggins, that's fine.
It just all depends on if they pan out. If Embiid is Olajuwon reborn, it's a great pick. If Wiggins is Jordan redux, it's a great trade.
I will say that Brett Brown probably knows more about Exum than anybody else, so if they stand pat and take him at 3 and move MCW, I'll feel like they'll have done it with a reasonable expectation of success.
