  • Dumb Question

Why aren't the Sixers making the same play for Lebron/Kevin Love that the Cavs are attempting? We have the cap room to give Lebron a max deal. We have cap room to absorb Love's current deal. We have assets to deal to Minny to get Love. We have a PG to put with them. We have a ton of young talent to fill the remaining holes, and we have picks up the wazoo to improve down the road.

I think it basically comes down to LeBron not wanting to play here. It was Miami or Cleveland from the start. Miami can offer him more money than any other team, and Cleveland is his home town, where his wife wants to be and his chance to "right his wrong."

Hinkie could have offered him all the cash he possibly could, I don't think it would have changed the King's mind.

I'm sure you're correct, but why not make the pitch - bring in Dr. J, Moses, Mo and explain what it means to be a champion in Philly. He could name the role players he wants, and we have the room/assets to go get them.

Don't you at least make an attempt?

He wasn't seeing everyone either. He sent his agent to some of the lesser meetings, and he only showed up to the ones that he wanted.

They might have tried to make a pitch but never even got in the door.

He's holding up the entire league

Carmelo was holding off his decision until he saw what James was going to do.

Melo is wating. Bosh is waiting. Bosh waiting means Lin to Sixers is on hold.

Lesser FAs are in waiting because where LeBron signs determines how much money certain teams have to spend.

            It's nutso.

              yup

also...there is NO DOUBT James is worth WAYYY more to the team he signs with and the entire league for that matter, than the maximum salary. I cant blame James one bit for making the best decision he can for himself and his family.

Still say the Sixers offer him the best opportunity to design his own roster. He signs for Max, we trade for Love (Even if it means giving them Embiid), we sign Ray Allen, we keep MCW and Noel. We have more talent to come in future years. He could design a dynasty in Philly.

I would like to see Hinkie get involved with a three-way deal with the Cavs and Timberwolves. Try and get Wiggins in exchange for cap relief for the Cavs to land Love. We send players and picks to the Timberwolves. I don't even know if it's possible but I'll throw it out there.

It would be great, I just can't see anyway Minny trades Love and doesn't get Wiggins out of it but then again, reports are Minny is interested in signing Evan Turner, so clearly Flip Saunders isn't thinking straight.

I think Lebron should sign 1 year deal every year, that way he gets to cherry pick his squad every year and gets to be the attention whore he love to be along with his big announcement on espy every year and we can all celebrate like its a national holiday maybe get a 3 day weekend out of it

Someone raised that yesterday on WIP. Problem was that it would probably require the Sixer's 1st rounder next year, but isn't that lottery protected and unavailable for trade?

I thought the same thing the second I saw that Cleveland would basically have to dump Wiggins to try and get love to in. No way hinkie misses out twice

I'm pretty sure the Sixers only lose the pick if they make the playoffs (Arnett Moultrie trade). The Wolves should be pretty confident that's not going to happen. They could also get a first with the Lin trade if that happens. If they found a way to get Wiggins in here, the draft over the next couple of years wouldn't be that important. They have plenty of young talent to build around through free agency. I get it's a pipe dream but stranger things have happened.

I think the Sixers are just committed to sucking so that the ownership group can site attendance as an excuse to move the team
