  • Red Klotz has passed away

He was 93 and he still left us too soon.

One of the greatest pioneers of basketball and a superb ambassador of the United States in more than 100 countries. As recently as two summers ago he was still playing halfcourt pickup at the highest level.

Very proud to call him my friend. He will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace.

    Officially awaiting Douchebagnacht II since
    May 7, 2010

    That's terrible news. God Bless.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

      RIP, Red
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

          I'm sorry, IG.

At least you got the book finished so he was able to experience it before he left us.

Condolences to you and his family.

                Condolences

Red gave the world an incredible gift, and so did you IG in sharing his story

From Red's daughter talking about the book:

Klotz, who recently had a stroke that has impaired his speech, wanted to impart the lessons of sport through the biography, and he believes it has achieved that goal, his daughter said.

“Knowing that the world would see basketball through his eyes, and learn about the Globetrotter and Generals tours that allowed the teams to represent America — it’s meant so much to him,” Groff said.
                .
