What I find strange is that he made jokes about the Sandusky situation. Now, I'll be the first to admit that I've made jokes about it too, but it seems weird to me that he'll make a joke about children being molested and then claim he's being discriminated against because he supports gay marriage and a coach of his made gay jokes.
No team is going to sign an average punter (particularly since many teams cycle through average punters on a yearly basis) when he is going to sue the team as soon as he gets cut.

Sandusky jokes are mocking disgusting criminal predators. Gay jokes are mocking normal people who society is bigoted against. I think it's a pretty stark difference.
That said, I like Kluwe and I'm glad he called attention to the issue, but the audience who enjoys the over the top mockery style he uses is not the same as the general audience. Those people online who like that stuff will worship him, but most people will remember him as a person who was angry and immature, not as a person who was a dedicated and serious champion of gay rights.
Kluwe walked around, multiple times, with a hole in the back of his shorts claiming to be a Sandusky victim, allegedly. Sounds a bit different than just mocking a pedophile.
Also he's been calling out teammates, saying some of them were caught with an underage girl. If he has a problem with it, why didn't he go to the police instead of bringing it up when he is suing the team? He might be pro-gay rights, but this suit is more about him than anything else.

Kluwe was mocking Sandusky's victims and when confronted Kluwe said, “It didn’t stick in my mind, but, you know, I — it is definitely — if people said they saw it, then yeah, I probably did it,” Kluwe said.
