Reports are that his asking price on Marlon Byrd is "EXTREMELY high," per multiple teams.
He gives away Cliff Lee and Hunter Pence for peanuts but he's asking for the world on Marlon Byrd.
He's historically incompetent. Not just as a GM, just in the history of people doing their job, whatever that job may be, very few have been as bad at it as RAJ.Last edited by Sect 236; 07-31-2014, 02:29 PM.

I was caught up in the Halladay hype and excited when Lee was brought back. Hell, I was all about Oswalt and the "Four Aces" shit for awhile too but, in retrospect, it was all a mess. I didn't look into the contractual specifics and didn't realize how untradable he made these guys. He rolled the dice and lost...now we're dealing w/ the fallout...

Since 2011 (the year they won 102 games) the attendance per game dropped from 45,441 to 30,390 this season. 15,051 less fans this year than when they were winning.
You think those numbers are gonna get better if they go into next season with the same subpar old team, with the guy who built that team still in his position?

now it's the waiver clearing deals and deals can still be made through the end of august i believe.“I am going to literally sodomize you on the field of battle. I am going to have non-consensual sex with your face and your butt. Then I’m going after your wife and kid”

It wasn't a mess, but all be did was cut checks. And that's all he's ever done. He's never made a tough decision.
Cole Hamels could have brought in a haul of young talent, but RAJ had no leverage. Teams called his bluff on the king's ransom that he was asking for because they knew the pressure was on Rube to cave and trade Hamels for too little, while paying too much of the contract. Forget the contracts that made Byrd, Lee, Papelbon, and Burnett immovable. RAJ could have at least gotten elite prospects for the Phillies dismal farm system.
This team won't be good again until Hamels is 33 or 34. Close to Lee's age. Who is the same age that Doc was when his body broke down. Who was the same age that RoyO was when his body broke down. RAJ needs to learn something from this. Not trading Lee last year was a giant mistake.

That may actually be good news.
Knowing the sort of dreck RAJ has consistently gotten in trades, one can only hope that a new GM will be in place after this season and perhaps the new GM may have a clue when it comes to talent evaluation.John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

At this point, there's no reason to pitch him again this season even if he could.
That leaves little to no chance anyone will want Cliff in the offseason. They'll wanna wait and see how he bounces back next season. If he pitches well, maybe his stock goes up again, if he doesn't, we're stuck with him until he totally breaks down.

The only subject I addressed was the 4 aces.
Amaro had a team that should have won the WS the year he got Oswalt and they lost to the Giants and even more so the next year when he got Pence and they didn't hit in the post season after winning 102 games.
He was being hailed then.Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.
