I'm not an MD but I sell products to prevent deep vein thrombosis(blood clots) so I know enough about it. I'm guessing he had surgery recently? Clots are common after surgery especially if you're immobile for long periods of time. Leg clots aren't serious but when they travel to the lungs it can cause a pulmonary embolism which is deadly.

Ever work with NAPc2 ? Its a factor VIIa inhibitor and we did a Phase 1 study for that one to treat DVT. Not sure if it ever made it to market, but it sure was a potent anti-coagulant. Dendreon was the company developing it
