Eagles are kind of thin along the O-line right now
with Lane Johnson suspended and Julian Vandervelde out with back surgery. Do they use a roster spot on Vandervelde in the hope he can return? Not sure he's worth using a spot. Might be IR time.
Johnson doesn't take up a 53-man roster spot once he's on suspension. That said, there still might not be a spot for vandervelde, so your premise is still on target.
