I've seen more from Parkey in 1 kick than Henery in an entire career

Cut Henery

I would not be surprised
If Chip cuts Henery, keeps Parkey for kickoffs and long FGs, then signs someone else for regular FG duties until he feels Parkey can move into the role full-time (Bironas?). Just like when Norm Johnson and Akers split duties one season.
Problem is: whose spot does Parkey take as yet another ST specialist? An O-lineman that typically won't dress each week? Try and sneak Ed Reynolds to the practice squad and only keep four safeties?

The problem with that is picking a veteran kicker up now means the kicker is guaranteed his full salary. The eagles aren't the only team with kicker problems and these old kickers are all still walking around, there's a reason. I say roll with the kid or keep henery on the roster through the fourth week as well at least until they gain a little more confidence in parkey. Then it's cut cityLast edited by Greenstealth; 08-29-2014, 09:41 AM.

He missed a 31-yarder while playing for his job. What are the chances the pressure won't get to him when he's kicking a 31-yarder in a game that matters?
What's the point of having a guy who you use to kick shorter FGs when that guy can't even be trusted to kick those shorter FGs?
Cut Henery's ass and roll with the kid.Last edited by Sect 236; 08-29-2014, 09:52 AM.

There's no need to sign another veteran until Parkey proves himself unreliable.

Cut Henery

Before Henery's recent miss of roughly 35 yds I would have been hesitant to cut him. He has a history of being accurate, albeit from modest distances. However, if he is not reliable on medium range kicks along with not having a leg for long FGs or kick offs, I'm fine with taking a chance on parkey.
I don't know how relevant this is but, Henery's Wikipedia page was modified a couple of hours ago.
"Alex Henery (born August 17, 1987) is an American football kicker who is currently a free agent. He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, setting an NCAA record for field goal accuracy with an 89.5% success rate. He was drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft." [ emphasis mine]
