  • Mike Sam still unsigned

    Which kind of shocks me.

It shouldn't. You can pretty much rule out any 3-4 team, because he can't play LB. Then, the biggest knock on him is that he doesn't have the size/long arms of the prototypical 4-3 DE.

I don't think the Rams will sign him to the PS, either. I think he'll find a team, but it could take a while.

I think he may already be revisiting his big deal with Oprah.

Most people are saying the circus espn has created will keep teams from signing him, not his inability to play.

Who gives a shit about Michael Sam if he's not an NFL player? All he is now is a gay man who graduated from college and was on an NFL roster for half a summer during training camp.

If he lands on anyone's practice squad, that show will be on no doubt. Then he'll be "trying to make it."

Something is messed up. Rams are pretty set on the line but the FORMER SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR should find a place on a team. Might be smart of a team to hide in on the practice squad for a year till all the drama stops.

It was a numbers game. He led the team in tackles in the pre-season if I'm not mistaken and had three sacks. He can play, and after the initial reaction from him being drafted, the Rams did a very good job of keeping the distractions to a bare minimum. His playing ability should not be in question, it'll be whether or not a team thinks that they too can handle the potential distractions.

He got 9 of his 11.5 sacks in 3 games against Florida (4-8, had linemen literally blocking themselves), Vandy (got 9 wins, but gave up more sacks than any team in the SEC through the regular season), and Arkansas State. There weren't many SEC defenders whose stat line was off the charts last year, so he got it based on 3 games. Tebow tore up the SEC and doesn't have a job. Chad Lavalais won the DPOY and was out of the league in a few years. Performing in the SEC doesn't automatically make you NFL-caliber.

If he does become a Cowboy though, is it still kosher to call number 9 "Tony Homo?"
