That doesn't mean Dennard couldn't have been a starter in Philadelphia right now.

Maybe he could, more likely he would be 4th behind Boykin this season or even 5th behind Carroll. Don't get me wrong, I like Dennard and would have been happy if they drafted him, I think he'll be a good player for a long time, but the initial claim that Smith could be cut after next year based on what has happened so far is beyond overracting.
