They broke into programming yesterday on the local channels

All day long, talking about the lady at the airport. Always made sure to call it the "Ebola scare". Seems like they're trying to get the people scared and it seems to be working. There's too many educational resources at our fingertips in 2014 for anyone to be running around like Chicken Little. If people did some research and educated themselves on it, they'd be fine.

You said in this day and age you need to educate yourself, I agree, but it's pretty bad when the people that are getting paid to have the answers have no common sense to go along with their degree.

Pretty much the same thing happened in Spain, except it wasn't as bad because an airplane was not involved. The nurse there who was caring for an Ebola patient had a mild fever but under the "threshold". Guess they need to rethink the threshold temperature.

Yeah, I just think that until people have a better grasp of what to expect it would not hurt to err on the side of caution.

But what good does banning flights from Sierra Leone and those other countries? How many direct flights are there? Would we also ban people from connecting in Paris and Madrid?

Hey Dimmy, closing the border was taking out of context by EIO in his reply to Ken, there is a difference between "securing our borders" and "nobody gets in or out".


With that said, I think the first step would be to stop giving out travel visa's to the affected areas, yes, the state dept. is still issuing them as I type this.



If you need a travel visa to get into this country you are not a citizen.

It is obviously not the complete answer, but it is a start, it's better than nothing.

Something else that was just brought up, in two weeks you will have thousands of people pouring into New York area for the running of the marathon, right?
