They broke into programming yesterday on the local channels
All day long, talking about the lady at the airport. Always made sure to call it the "Ebola scare". Seems like they're trying to get the people scared and it seems to be working. There's too many educational resources at our fingertips in 2014 for anyone to be running around like Chicken Little. If people did some research and educated themselves on it, they'd be fine.Last edited by Eagle In Ohio; 10-16-2014, 09:53 AM.The truth is incontrovertible. I just think it's pretty bad that she did call authorities told them the whole story and that she did have a fever and asked if she could fly, and they said no problem?
WTF

No way, BUT, whoever gave her the go ahead should be given walking papers.
You said in this day and age you need to educate yourself, I agree, but it's pretty bad when the people that are getting paid to have the answers have no common sense to go along with their degree.

Pretty much the same thing happened in Spain, except it wasn't as bad because an airplane was not involved. The nurse there who was caring for an Ebola patient had a mild fever but under the "threshold". Guess they need to rethink the threshold temperature.

When Teresa Romero Ramos, the Spanish nurse now afflicted with the deadly Ebola virus, first felt feverish on September 30, she reportedly called her family doctor and told him she had been working with Ebola patients. Her fever was low-grade, just 38 degrees Celsius, far enough below the 38.6 degree Ebola red alert temperature to not cause alarm. Her doctor told her to take two aspirin, keep an eye on her fever and keep in touch, according to Spanish press reports quoting Romero’s husband Limón Romero. He says she didn’t initially exhibit any of the other Ebola symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and she didn’t feel sick enough to stay in bed.--------

Yeah, I just think that until people have a better grasp of what to expect it would not hurt to err on the side of caution.
Remember a couple of years ago all we heard about out here was West Nile Virus, now it's like it never happened?

Hey Dimmy, closing the border was taking out of context by EIO in his reply to Ken, there is a difference between "securing our borders" and "nobody gets in or out".
With that said, I think the first step would be to stop giving out travel visa's to the affected areas, yes, the state dept. is still issuing them as I type this.
If you need a travel visa to get into this country you are not a citizen.
It is obviously not the complete answer, but it is a start, it's better than nothing.Last edited by Eagle Road; 10-16-2014, 02:56 PM.
