  • SOC: No matter what you think about Foles, Sanchez, etc.

SOC stands for stream of consciousness post.

It is now confirmed that it was a definite good move signing Sanchez as a backup prior to this season.

I always liked the guy and thought he was put into a bad place by the Jets.

Having said that, my level of uncertainty with him is as least as high as it is with Foles.

Eagles could end up in the worst of all NFL worlds... having a successful season ending in a playoff loss with no clear cut QB.

Compound that with a draft pick in the 20s. They've already won 6 so you know they aren't going to pick super high.

I think the o line will get better with Mathis in and Herremans OUT. Herremans is damaged goods. Every player will be attacking his bad arm.

Maclin is better than I thought he would be.

Eagles would be awesome with both him and Jackson as WRs.

Sanchez is just an average qb, which is about what Foles has been if not a tad bit better anyway. Everything else would have to be very good for a SB run, but so far it has been. Losing Ryans is the worst injury for the Birds all year.

Maclin has been damn near great. Mathews is one of the better rookie wrs so far this year. Very pleasantly surprised with the defense so far, especially considering how bad the corners are, and how badly the turnover battle has been thus far. 6-2 and lucky enough to have a backup that has been to two AFC championships..I just don't see how I could complain.

You're pretty spot on with this. It really could end in disappointment and uncertainty

There is a part of me that would have been happier with a half-shitty rebuild season last year that would have allowed Kelly to target the QB he wanted in the draft.

I will say that Foles problems looked worryingly systemic so far this year. If the weak middle of the OL has hurt his confidence (and the run game that makes him way more effective), I would've expected it to show up more as a game-by-game thing rather than throw-by-throw. I could be wrong, of course. But I would have expected a clunker or two where nothing worked and then otherwise solid performances. Instead, one throw will be perfect and the next awful.

If Foles is out 5 weeks and Sanchez goes 2-3 or 3-2, that'll be a good pinch-hitting job by him. If he goes 5-0...well, shit will be real interesting.

Agree pretty much everywhere. However, to assume Jackson and maclin could coexist is kind of a stretch to me. I think they'd both want the ball non stop and it would cause issues. 2 alphas and 1 with major diva qualities could be poison in the locker room. ESP without a franchise "get in your face" QB on the team.

The eagles are a very good team with out a franchise quarterback. That's my take. They have won in spite of foles all year.

Agree. They're very similar types. I think DJax is more talented but Kelly prefers Maclin's attitude.

I was on the road back from Syracuse so I didn't see the game.

I defended Sanchez earlier this year as getting a bad rep with the "butt fumble" bullshit and found him a solid game manager when he had a run game to work with.

I also think he may make it easier for the offensive line because he's more predictable on where he sets up.

On Foles, I really don't get the lack of patience with him ... not Annapolis or you, but a lot of people here sound like Joey from Manayunk on WIP who think they have definitively evaluated him.

The jury is still out ... he's not a veteran qb and there has been a lot of shit this year ... I personally think the shoulder was injured before this ... he lost a premier qb coach ... and his offensive line has been a different group virtually every week.

Hey how about this for awesome fantasy instead? ... Fredo and Sanchez get rings as starters!!!

                They did before
John Erlichman, one of President Richard Nixon's closest aides, has admitted America's "War on Drugs" was a hoax designed to vilify and disrupt "the antiwar left and black people" when it was launched in 1971.

                  3 1/2 yards from being 8-0 with a -10 turnover differential.

agreed on all accounts. you hit the nail on the head with the worst of all NFL worlds. if you have two quarterbacks you have none, and that could be where this team is headed. however, i'm not going to jump the gun on sanchez. he could very well succeed over these next few weeks, but it's not like foles never looked great in kelly's system. a lot of times a backup comes in like kirk cousins and has a good game or two, but then you find out why they weren't starting the whole time. i trust that if sanchez should have been starting this whole time, kelly would have started him.

also, i've thought the same thing about jackson seeing the catches he's made these past couple weeks. if any selfishness would have been a problem in the locker room, i really don't think it would have been the difference between this team winning and losing. it's not like jackson catches a ton of passes anyway. but the passes that he does catch are tremendous. jackson could have done a lot with the targets that cooper has gotten this season.
