  • Is Chip Kelly just Jerry Glanville Part II?

I was thinking, Glanville took the NFL by storm in Houston for a while, it's probably hard to remember before he sort of became a caricature of himself. On both defense and offense, was viewed as an innovator, as a guy who was a cocky smart ass who knew better than you. For that matter, a bit like Buddy Ryan.

These three coaches are similar in attitude and the view that they are innovators. I hope that doesn't mean that Chip ends up where Buddy and Glanville ended up.

I have often thought that same thing Dimmy, BUT, I think the biggest difference is in originations.

Love him or hate him but Lurie is one of the better owners in the league, giving his coaches everything they seem to need but without the micromanagement of a Snyder/Jones.

Let's face it, when Buddy was here, management/ownership was not as good, then he went to Zona to work for the elder Bidwell, that place and time the Cards were a joke of a franchise.

I think to a degree the same can be said of Glanville's time in the league., but you are right in that the similarity is there.
