As a lifelong fan of a usually-wretched beisbol team, I can say the Phils' run surrounding 2008 was their greatest era. Jimmy Rollins was a huge part of that.
What I liked best about the guy was he delivered on the biggest of stages. His defense was consistent and that's really the first thing you are looking for out of a shortstop. First-pitch swinging be damned, not running out grounders be damned, offensively he was the best SS to ever don the red pinstripes. He got a lot of big hits for this team.
I will definiely miss J-Roll. He can still play, and the Dodgers will benefit from the deal. Hopefully the prospects the Phillies got will actually make a contribution.
Thanks, Jimmy.
