  • 97% of NFL teams with 9-3 record make playoffs

    Sickening

According to the people at fivethirtyeight.com, 97 percent of NFL teams since 1990 who were 9-3 eventually made it to the playoffs. The Eagles are in the unfathomable 3 percent. We all know how the last month went -- Seattle, Dallas, Washington, New York; L, L, L, meaningless W. The trick now is understanding the reasons.

Chances are that 97 percent of that 3 percent lost their starting quarterback.
QB is everything in the NFL. The Eagles didn't have one in September.

This isn't rocket science. Andy Reid knows that. Chump Kelly doesn't.

When Andy lost Donovan, he could insert AJ Feely and win. He could insert old as dirt Jeff Garcia and win. He even won with Koy Detmer! What does Chump do? He goes after a loser like Marc Sanchez. This was a seriously stupid decision. Expect more of the same idiotic decisions going forward until the wheels fall completely off.

He won with Feeley and Detmer in 02 when they had a defense--or are you so seriously anti-Chip you don't want to admit that? In 06 when he had Garcia, he had a veteran QB who had mobility, and if I'm not mistaken came back to beat the Panthers on MNF, then took out the terrible NFC East. Kelly won with Sanchez--he was 5-4 with him-- the score with Houston was tied when Foles went out. The problem with this team wasn't necessarily QB play--it was piss poor defense from the secondary. They put up 14 against a Seattle team that limited teams to 26 points in their last 4 games--and the Eagles scored the most; they had 27 against the Cowboys and 24 against the Skins which should really have been enough. Getting back to original poor point, when Reid went with Feeley in 07, he had the same problems as Sanchez did--turnovers at the wrong time.

And while we're at it, take a look around the league and tell me what backup QB you would have taken. Vick?? He was terrible in NY and injury prone in Philly. Brandon Weeden?? Tavaris Jackson??

Hahahaha. So 97% of that 3% loses their starting QB, yet that stat is irrelevant because this team didn't have a QB in the first place. But FF somehow managed to twice lose his starting QB and make the playoffs not once, but twice. Which somehow sounds like you are praising FF at Chip's expense. Yet as you've said, the head coach doesn't really matter that much. Once again you have no idea what you're talking about.
