Eckel's column re: Gamble

Basically an insider says that it was Kelly who hired Gamble not Roseman and Roseman got pissed off at the move because he didn't feel another talent evaluator was needed. Then, the quotes that Kelly made on Monday, basically calling Howie a glorified cap guy "infuriated Roseman". And Gamble isn't the only one who has butted heads with Roseman. Apparently the assistant player personnel director, Ed Mayronwitz, also has had problems with him and there's bad blood between Roseman's scouting staff and Kelly and Mayronwitz. It's suffuciently bad that an exec from another team called them "dysfunctional".
Also, apparently Roseman didn't like the fact that Kelly and Gamble went on scouting trips together during the season.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kelly resigns and throws his hat in the ring for the 49ers job, returning to the West Coast.

Edit to add: Shorr's story was at 5:30 and Eckel's at 7:30. Myths McLane writes that Roseman was moving toward talking to Jets about their GM opening.
