  • Draft could be a great one

Keep looking at the draft possibilities

How about --1st round Danny Shelton or Eddie Goldman nose tackles to give the push up the middle ---- and help Cox and the other DEs

2nd Round Kevin Johnson big cb with speed and skills

3rd round Jalen Collins another big cb with speed and skills

4th round Nate Orchard OSLB Utah -- kid is big fast and knows how to get to the Qb

free agency get the kid Devin McCourty to team with Jenkins at safety

Shelton/Goldman give the push up the middle thats missing
Johnson and Collins both have size speed to replace the trash at cb

If Smith could make a transition to Inside linebacker with Kendricks that would replace Ryans -- then if they could restructure Cole or sign Graham ( dont think they do both ) prefer signing Graham -- add Orchard to the mix with Shelton or Goldman they upgraded an already potent DL

Without a potential replacement for Backfoot Foles, the draft will be a failure.

Qbs tend to do that when OL is a leaking sieve

              2014 PFF Offensive Line Rankings

              https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...ne-rankings/4/

              2. Philadelphia Eagles (1st)

Pass Blocking Ranking: 10th, Run Blocking Ranking: 1st, Penalties Ranking: 27th

Stud: In the conversation for best left tackle in the league right now, and if nothing else the run blocking of Jason Peters makes him the most fun to watch.

Dud: Credit to Todd Herremans for trying to gut it out, but the upshot was him being something of a liability in pass protection before going on Injured Reserve.

Breakdown: How did the line finish this highly with all the injuries they had? The replacements (Matt Tobin, Andrew Gardner and David Molk) all struggled so you can place their midseason renaissance down to getting their studs back. Peters and Lane Johnson were PFF All-Pro first teamers, Evan Mathis was on pace to be one, but missed some time, while Jason Kelce had the sixth-highest run blocking score of any center. A strong finish to the year for this unit.

What does a midseason renaissance to do with Foles?

EDITED TO ADD: Actually I know, but I'm trying to see whether you have the same idea.

Even with the injuries, there were quite a few worse o-lines. Good QBs make bad O-lines better with quick smart decisions. No free pass for Nicks poor performance. Prolly hurt Shady more than Foles.

I expect Foles will be the first among equals next pre-season but it's a fantasy to think Kelly won't bring in a serious challenger. You gotta have two qbs. I'd guess a mid to late round draft pick. Maybe the transfer from Oregon. And a veteran free agent.

Although I wouldn't be totally shocked if he took the kid from UCLA early.

Fuck ... Foles got his ass beat all year ... took a dirty hit covering a Foreskin non-interception and looked like he had a bad shoulder before he broke his collarbone.

Playing hurt behind a bad line creates bad habits for veteran quarterbacks, much less a guy who's started about a year.

Tom fucking Brady looked like Logan Thomas against the Chiefs when he was getting hammered because of the horrible play of his o-line.

You don't need to stretch for a piss on Foles to make an obvious point about competition being good and that good backups are a plus.

Foles may not turn out to be the goods, but why do you have a need to poo poo valid ideas for why his bad play may have been due to temporary fixable reasons.

                    And it wasn't all bad.

Because it's Iowa klan fan. If you don't get that, you're not paying attention.

I'd rather see them look at CB in rounds 1 and/or 2. If they don't sign Graham, they'll need to address OLB/DE high in the draft.

I see M Smith as a long term project who hopefully will one day be able to replace C Barwin. I would not mind seeing them use round 3 for a ILB, OG, maybe S or 3-4 DE with more pass rush to rotate with Thornton.

Lots of ways they can go. It will be an interesting off season. Can not wait to watch the Cowturds get their ass handed to them in Green Bay this weekend.

Sorry between Logan 2 seasons and Allen 1st season you have a total of 1/2 sack --- that dont cut it. Bennie and Allen decent in run defense they provide little or no push up the middle.

Either the kid from FSU or Washington would be a huge upgrade there.

Ah what is a Shu looking to collect as a free agent or via tag --- sorry 3 - 4 d big need a big guy in the middle that consistently puts pressure on the qb.

Bennie and Beau - love them but they suck at getting to the qb

The responsibility of the NT in the 3-4 is to eat up blockers. They're wide bodies who force multiple OL to block them, allowing the LBs to stay clean.

Vince Wilfork has played 11 seasons and has 16 career sacks. Sacks aren't what 3-4 NTs do.

Edit to add: Even better example is Casey Hampton. For 12 seasons he anchored that vaunted Stillers D. 12 seasons, 9 sacks.
