I'm just being a contrarian.

I know...I just don't want you to think I think mariotta is trash. I like him a bunch...but I wouldn't trade into the top ten for him because I don't know.

Mariota isn't the second coming of Russell Wilson, but he has skills that would suit him fine in the right offense at the NFL level, I think. With that let me also ask all the "experts" on this board. Why are you not scouts? I especially enjoy the comment that "he doesn't pass my smell test". Who cares?? He may be a bust or he may end up being a hall of famer, who knows. The best QB in the NFL right now sat for 3 years, after not getting picked where "everyone" thought he would be, which was much earlier in the first round than he was. QB is probably the hardest position to scout, draft, and develop. So is he, or isn't he, a good NFL prospect. It seems as though most of the people paid for their opinion think he will be a pretty decent pro.

If he is there in the mid teens and only costs your 1 and another pick then I'm all for it.

But, doesn't it say something when it's third and long or you're behind and a guy who being talked about as a possible top 5 pick doesn't appear capable of putting the team on his back and making throw after throw? Winston has shown that ability. He can make every throw you need of a QB. And stand tall in the pocket while doing so, in face of the rush.

Don't think Mariota is that kind of guy. And if you're talking about a top 5-10 pick in draft I would want the QB to be capable of beating a team from the comfort of the pocket and makes those throws.

Haha. Give any QB a RB that averaged 10 YPC and they'll shred a defense with PA passes.
