One time I had the privilage and pleasure to sit at the same dinner table (OK it was the philly sportswiters dinner, but hey) with Al Bagnoli. Since then I paid a lot more attention to UP football and the way this guy approaches life and football. Columbia got major league lucky there and Penn fucked up royally.

Coach Bagnoli took the Union Dutchmen to the Stagg Bowl my freshman year before leaving for UPenn. Great coach - stayed at Penn for a long time.

Penn must have kicked him upstairs or something. He was only three months into his new gig in the athletic department. I find it hard to believe he felt he was done with coaching and left the school that quickly for one of the toughest situations in all of college football. I think Columbia has a two-year losing streak going.
