for the trade to go through. McCoy as well for that matter.

What I wonder is if that can take place now of if it has to happen after the new league year.

If McCoy balks, he is likely released and loses his remaining contract salary/bonsues (~$25 million). Now, like Jackson, he may sign a new deal with more guaranteed money (comparatively for year 1) but less overall. But, it is highly unlikely that the overall value over the next three years is going to match his current contract.

Of course, the Bills could cut him at any time as well, but given that they traded a quality young player for him I think it's less likely that he's cut from the Bills in the next 3 years than if he doesn't get traded.

Either way, McCoy's contract hit the year where he's expendable so it's a matter of is he likely to play out his contract with Buffalo or can he get 25 million (or even the $10 million for this year) guaranteed from someone else if he holds out and is released.

...Shady's agent is scrambling to scare up alternate suitors at better destinations who could come up with similar money???

Haha. Maybe. You'd have to think though that Rosenhaus knew it was a front loaded contract when they signed it. The hope was that the Eagles would value McCoy and keep him around which is a gamble.

That's why players want guaranteed money (which I totally support) and that's what really matters when contract numbers are released.

I guess it comes down to what matters to McCoy - getting paid the most or playing someplace he wants to play. Obviously he didn't want to take a pay cut to stay with the Eagles so...

Hopefully they can wait a while longer.

If Kiko doesn't pass his physical and the trade is voided McCoy sure as shit will be outright released.
