  • Looks Like Maclin will get to UFA

Adam Caplan tweeting that it doesn't look good for the Eagles to sign him prior to UFA opening. I like Maclin, don't love him. That stupid contract we gave Cooper last year is hurting us now though.

Rumor is that he is probably going to head to seattle.

Maclin could end up in Seattle but they have a lot of their own players out there 19 or 20 UFA and some RFA. They have around $18,000,000 to play with. They are trying to sign Marshawn lynch and right now Russel Willion isn't making any money but that will change in the near future.

Maclin might not be an All Pro but he was pretty darn good last year and given what's behind him, I would not feel good going into next season with Matthews, Huff and Cooper. They need to sign him.

If Maclin decides to sign elsewhere they have to sign Randall Cobb, Crabtree or Torrey Smith.

They have to keep Mackin. He is the best WR on the team now. They got rid of the best WR last year. They can't do it again and place all the focus on offense in the draft.

Its so hard to Hit on draft Picks

this FO has sucked through the years and in the last 16 months we kicked to the curb the 3 best picks in the last 8 years,,,I just have a hard time getting that....Now if they Trade Kendricks or Fletcher Cox that would be the quinella!

We all knew McCoy was due big bucks,,not a shock he was traded just how poor the compensation was considering we need picks.

Forgot those guys were out there. Not a big fan of Crabtree. Either of the other two would be nice, but I would prefer they be in addition to Maclin.

Chip's philosophy is not to pay 10M a year to RB/WRs. It would be completely inconsistent for him to pay Maclin.

I think you may be correct here. If that's the case then you won't see a quick resolution to the WR situation. You'll see the market play out with the Eagles looking for a bargain I think.

If they don't resign Maclin, I don't think they'll sign anyone. They'll take a WR with one of the few picks they have left after trading for Mariota.

Bingo! By taking a WR in the 2nd and 3rd rd last year just proves that Chip wants to move on from Djack and Maclin both FF players. Is their any Oregon WRs coming out this yr or already in the league?

But this discussion happened last year after Djax, who had a career year under Chip (82 Rec, 1,332 yd, 9 TDs), was released. Keep in mind, before that Djax was average about 1,000 yards (except 2012 - injury), never caught more than 62 balls and the bulk of his Tds were scored by the deep ball (9 in 2009 was his best).

Maclin has a similar track record. He caught 85 for 1,318 and 10 TDs this year whereas previous years he produced about 900 yards, never catching more than 70 balls and also matched his career high in TDs under Chip (10 in 2010 as well).

Talent being what it is, it seems Chip can take a plus guy and turn him into a 80+ catch, 1,300 yard, 10 TD player. He's done it twice with two receivers who are good but not great (or 1 dimensional)

Whether the philosophy is sound with lesser players isn't know. Maybe Riley Pooper finally pays off next year?
