  • Marriota vs Hundley -- sorry 236 i see it differently

236 and the rest all think you know what Chip is going to do, what he has to do. You dont know what is in Chips head. He liked Hundleys skill set over Marriota coming out of HS. Sure both played in somewhat different systems -- Both worked from shotgun most of the time. Hundley put up similar stats in college a system more closely resembles the one Chip uses in his pro system. I believe Chip is smart enough to know what Hundley can do in the Pros. I also think Chip isnt stupid enough to waste the draft picks it would take to get Marriota when there is a player of equal value or maybe even better value in the long run with coaching.

Both Marriota and Hundley should sit and learn a few years. Marriota will have as big of a learning curve as Hundley. Both are fast both have the arm strength to make the throws both have the physical numbers you look for. BUT BOTH will have to learn to operate under center much of the time. Check the Eagles offense when under center they run the ball much better. They will have to learn to make the drops and read the progressions. It is a big learning curve.

I can not believe some pseudo experts on this board think that Marriota could step right in and compete at a high level. Foles had a great 13 dropped off behind a make shift OL in 14 and got injured. To think that is a reason to move him is absurd.

You will all realize this come draft day. Hope those idiot writers and fans predicting Kelly to mortgage the future on the golden boy from Oregon dont have a mental break when they dont.

Who are you talking to?? I haven't read a single poster here that wants to send multiple picks to land MM.

I guess he's talking to me because I sarcastically said how Foles and Brandon Marshall should start working out together. I also pointed out how who recruited who really means nothing after 3 or 4 years of college.

Iowa is angry because all the moves Chip is making seems to imply he's going to go all in for Mariota. Is he going to be able to get him? Who knows.

Iowa's brain just can't cope with the reality that it seems like Chip wants Mariota badly. Nothing new to see here.

Sitting and learning for a few years isn't the model for developing QBs anymore. That method is dying or already dead. If you use a high pick on a QB, you expect him to play. Luck played every game as a rookie, so did Wilson. Kaepernick unseated Alex Smith as the full-time starter by his second year.

Whether it's Mariota or Hundley, they'll be drafted with the expectation that they're going to start very soon, if not right away.

If there's interest in Foles (and there seems to be), it just makes sense that Chip would cash in while he can. He doesn't figure into CK's long term plans, that seems blindingly obvious at this point.

They should sign 32 year old Vince Wilfork and pay him the $4,500,000 roster bonus and the $3,900,000 salary that New England balked at. Thats the smart thing to do.

Lets see where the market prices him. Dont think its going to be near that high.

I dont think Chip is that stupid to start either the first year. Neither has operated much under center. Lots of learning to do - I think they get Hundley - let him sit year under Foles -- if Foles preforms close to 13 he ill continue to sit and learn.

How do you see trading McCoy for a future pro bowl ISLB is a sign they are going to give up the future two drafts to bring the kid in? I dont see the connection. Please explain all these moves to me you seem to know about. Oh the speculation they are trying to keep Sanchez - makes sense you don't want a raw college player being your back up qb. How well did that work out for the Browns. Sanchez for the right money would be the backup and Barkley will be replaced by Hundley.

Lets see what other moves - releasing Cole== uhm means they need sign a OSLB - I think that says they are going to go hard after Brandon Graham

Release Mccoy -- now there is a position that can be filled in the draft.

Not be able to sign Maclin -- again I think they can fill that need in the draft.

Replace Herremans - also could be a replacement through the draft but maybe they go free agency there.

You all keep having your nightly wet dreams about Mariota. IT JUST ISNT HAPPENING

He's an outstanding NT and I think he can still play. The Pattiots were never going pay him that bonus or this years salary that was just fluff to make a contract look bigger than it really is. That's why players want guaranteed money. New England is in the red they had to release him. Someone will sign him but I doubt it will be the Eagles. They're happy with Bennie Logan $600k and Beau Allen $500k. Good young and cheap.

Hahaha you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. Youre rambling yourself into nonsense land. Hundley is not better than Mariota. Its not even very close. And I'm a guy who actually supports selecting Hundley at 20.

Chip's on a clock. There is no multi-year rebuild here. Whoever the new QB is, he's going to be expected to play in year one. In the case of Mariota, he's the opening day starter if they get him.

Maybe another reason no Mariota he is not ready to be a pro qb neither is Hundley. If a qb is drafted it will be Hundley to develop.

I believe the fascination with mobile qbs is about over. From Manziel to RG knee to Kaepernick to Newton the mobile our of pocket mover is dieing on the vine. They are getting fucking killed in the NFL. Only one that thrives passing on the run is Wilson but you know it only takes one hit. Even Wilson was treading water much of the year till the luck ran out. Without that Defense Seattle does not sniff the super bowl.

Chip I think realizes this and actually will want a qb that 1. gets the ball out quickly from a 3 or 7 step drop from under center - why because they run the ball better form that formation. 2. Operate primarily from the pocket.

Coaches in the NFL I think will be giving up on the mobile qb wet dream fantasy of most of their fans. It was interesting while it lasted but the defenses in the pros are just to fast and big to put your qb in harms way on a regular basis.

Like Nick Foles who has gotten injured in every single NFL season he's played in?

Mobile QB's getting injured is overstated. RG3 was mishandled and didn't know how to protect himself. The real issue with mobile QBs is that they typically bail on plays and run way too early.
