Mobile QB's getting injured is overstated. RG3 was mishandled and didn't know how to protect himself. The real issue with mobile QBs is that they typically bail on plays and run way too early.
Exactly they bail because the speed of the NFL is not what they faced in college.

Was Kaepernick mishandled was Newton mishandled. was Manziel mishandled/
College qbs that thrived in college making things happen on the move just cant do that on a regular basis in the NFL.

They all will have to learn to be pocket passers and make the reads quickly and get the ball out quickly if they want any type of career.

As easy as that seems, it isn't/

The model of letting rookie QBs sit on the bench and learn is dead. Even Blake Bortles, on a team with zero expectations, started 14 games in his rookie year. Bridgewater started 13 games as a rookie. Where are these high draft pick QBs who are sitting around for years, learning the game? It sounds like something from the 70s and 80s. It makes zero sense in today's NFL.

Yes and isn't amazing how things go full circle. Today I believe teams need to groom qbs even longer prior to putting them into the fire. NFL defenses are bigger and faster. The game speed is fast there can not be any hesitation.Tighter windows to hit. The ability to lead and throw to where the wr will be is a must. Not just dancing till a wr is wide open.

I think the league will take pause and start to go back to grooming a qb and not playing them till they are ready, maybe two three years down the road.

If you look at the last few Super Bowls, you have to go back to Aaron Rodgers in 2011 to find a SB QB participant who didn't start as a rookie. That tells me the game is changing. Rookie QBs in the salary cap era are expected to start and produce.

Mariota or Hundley will be staring on opening day. That's just how I see this playing out.
