It makes no sense to release Cooper the Eagles are stuck with him for 2015. Releasing him would cost the Eagles $6,200,000 keeping hm $4,800,000. I'm actually not shocked at all. I'd actually be surprised if there weren't a lot more people thinking it. Supporting Cooper but then not paying Maclin is going to be taken a certain way by some people, and I think that's pretty understandable.

Another thing that has not been discussed but I'm sure players have taken note of: Kelly did not hire a single black positional coach. Duce Staley and Ted Williams, the only black positional coaches, were the only two holdovers from Reid, and now Ted Williams has been kicked upstairs to scouting.

I'm not saying race plays a part in any of Kelly's decision making. I don't think it does. But perception is a lot more important in the NFL than in college.

This is something that has worried me since they gave Cooper a nice new contract and DeSean a pink slip.

You're right, actually. What I was referring to was his original staff when he first came to the NFL. I should have made that clear. It was something I noticed right after the Cooper concert incident, and it's what I immediately thought of when I read about what Smith said.

Again, I think Stephen A Smith is off base and stirring shit (that's what he does), but I think as long as Riley Cooper is collecting fat checks and receivers like DeSean and Maclin aren't getting paid, people like Smith are going to connect those dots. And I do think perception is important.
