  • We're signing Ryan Mathews...another injury-prone guy.

The Eagles are expected to sign free agent RB Ryan Mathews, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.

Well that came together quickly. Initially, Garafolo reported that Mathews was only coming in for a visit. Apparently talks between the two sides were further along than he had anticipated. The Eagles flirted briefly with DeMarco Murray on Tuesday but they were never going to beat Jacksonville or Oakland in a bidding war. Mathews flashed talent during his up and down stay with San Diego, but his durability is a huge question mark. He's only played all 16 games once in five seasons. He'll be the featured back in Philadelphia with Darren Sproles seeing most of his work on passing downs.

Because a player has some bad luck with injuries early in his career does not mean the injuries will continue.

Mathews would be a very good sign for the right price. He fits the offense and is a very good receiver out of the backfield.
