Bruno & Innes beat missanelli in ratings in first month together
I tuned in to Innes and Bruno the other day to give Innes another chance and the first thing I heard him say is "this show is a friend to the lesbian people" and realized he's still doing the shock jock shtick and turned it right off.
did they really beat him? or was it just in one demo? I was listening to the Chip Kelly press conference on WIP and I chuckled for the first time ever at Innes. When Chip was done, Innes immediately said, "I'm nauseous"
Actually I hated him at first (and said so here) but more recently it wasn't that bad. Last week was great when he was sure the igs were getting a #10 pick with Bradford and had to recant later. He flipflopped from elation to igglephans panic in a new york minute - pretty funny
He does have moments of trying too hard to be funny / shocking. Overall though he's pretty funny and these 2 work real well together.
Show doesn't just stick to sports. Gets off topic regularly and is generally at it's best then honestly.
No way I'm not listening to Bruno. The only way WIP programming honchos could force me to listen to Innes. Also merges the old head demo with the imbecile "millennials" one into PM drivetime. I find it distasteful Innes gets top billing on the show and that he talks over Tony, a true Philly icon. But I listen for Bruno's take.
Officially awaiting Douchebagnacht II since
May 7, 2010
I've listened a few times last week and Bruno sounded like he had an actual thought-out opinion while Innes got more and more annoying with each passing minute with his juvenile potty mouth attention-whore schtick.
Obscenity is the last refuge of an inarticulate motherfucker.
Totally can see that point of view. Inness should defer a lot more to Bruno but at the same time Bruno does not seem to have found his rhythm or comfort zone. It's about 75/25 Inness to Bruno and needs to be closer to 50/50 IMO.

As a millennial (by some definitions)...FUCK Inness. Only person in the history of Philadelphia sports talk I will absolutely not listen to. If I'm in the car and 97.5 is on commercial I switch to NPR or just listen to ads.

there is music...
Anyway, I agree with most opinions here. Bruno is entertaining, but he's not really a guy to move a show along. He needs a "straight man" to move the show (Harry Mays). Innes is just too much - he tries to be so loud and strong-willed, but it gets tiring. IG nailed it though - great marketing scheme.
Competition breeds improvement - I'm curious if Innes sticks or they go with another voice - not sure what youth they have at WIP besides Innes.
