Very surprised that colleges would be closing around the country.
And little boys work for other companies? That's pretty dickish, and dumb
I do think it takes some balls to risk everything you own to invest in yourself without knowing whether it will pay off or not, yes, that is true.
On the contrary, I don't think it takes any balls at all to apply for a job, you either get the job, or you don't.
I'm not saying self-employment is for everyone, just like working for someone else isn't for everyone.
I never said anything about having to be a "little boy" to work for someone else, you injected that, the "Big Boy pants quote is all about the risk you have to take (usually) to start a company from scratch on your own.
Everyone was complaining about how they are treated at BAC, if that is the case then change the picture, that's all.
Stop patting yourself on the back. You might break your arm.
I've done it both ways. I wrote my own check for just under 40 years and I never once felt I was any "better" than those who worked for a paycheck.
It's just what I did; the way I went. After I sold my business, I took a few years off and then took a job with a BAC. That lasted almost 11 years until I finally had enough of the BAC bullshit and just walked away.
Bottom line is you do what you do; you live where you live. Life sort of just takes us from place to place. It's fun. I'm old enough now to look back and see what took me from place to place.
I'm rambling now (I'm pretty high) so enough.
Seņor Ricky.......you did just fine (not that you needed any affirmation)
"It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you."
I'm guessing you didn't have to start out on your own from scratch. That family farm thing helped.
The family farm was consumed by fire two years after I graduated, everything lost, I'm not in farming, I came to Kansas with 900.00 in my pocket and an old pickup truck 23 years ago, that's what I started with.

You and Ric can read anything into that post that you want, am I proud of what I accomplished, yeah, probably so, but the Big Boy pants thing had nothing to do with looking down my nose at anyone.
I was just stating that if you don't like how things are done were you work, then take a shot and change them, I must type with an accent?
Note, even if you did benefit from the family farm, I still think striking out on your own and starting a business is noble. Good for you.
Owning your own property and business is two wonderful experiences that our country offers to its citizens! I have worked for BACs and owned a business. Both have their rewards. Personally, I love owning my own business. It is a "bullshit free" environment. If you have a lot of employees... That's another story.
Ill take you for your word, but I can't help but think of insurance money and selling the land.
You didn't get anything from the farm?
I got nothing from the farm, except education and work ethic, and I value those highly.
There was some insurance money, it went to pay everything off, there was a couple of bucks left which my Grandfather used for his retirement, (because he lost his house when the farm was sold).
My parents got nothing and my Dad took a job as a Meat cutter, my Mom always worked outside of the farm.
As I said, came to Kansas with 900.00 everything my wife and I owned was in the back of that pickup or in the 6x12 uhaul we pulled out here.
I never intended for this to be about me, this exchange got way off base, people were stating that what they were spending money on for a college education does not always translate into you working in that field, then people went on to bitch about all the stress and BS that goes on at the BAC level.
THE only thing I was stating is that you can change that IF you want to, everything after that is people reading things that aren't there or injecting their opinion on what I typed?
Simply put, can't get into the field you have a degree in, don't like the corp. world, then strike out on your own, not sure how telling people there are other alternatives, turns into me looking down my nose at someone.
