  • Maybe Kelly saw this as a win-win

I don't buy the argument that Bradford was strictly a trade piece. I think they identified him as someone who might help them land Mariota, but also someone who was extremely well suited to run his offense if they couldn't. Either way, they have a starter they believe in.

Now they will probably trade him tonight and I'll look like an idiot. Personally, I'm excited to see what a healthy Bradford can do in this offense until he blows his knee out again.

Agree 100% except for him being traded tonight. I think they still draft a qb, perhaps Hundley, who can sit a few years and learn and be the heir apparent.

You don't think there's going to be a learning curve with this guy

Everyone talks like he's just going to be healthy and he's going to come in here and automatically know all of those pictogram cue cards and we're going to go to the NFC Championship Game.

How long was Fole's learning curve?

I actually don't think so. I think he'll be able to come in and run the offense. He's run this style of offense before and been very effective. I'm only worried about his knee exploding. Every time he gets hit, I'm going to have a stroke as long as Sanchez is waiting in the wings.

I am more of the belief that Chip Kelly has always been a bit of a gambler, and this time it blew up in his face like a Wyle E. Coyote ACME bomb.

Re Bradford: Would we be believing in Bradford right now if his previous two ACL injuries occurred while playing for the Eagles the last few years?

I'm of the belief that Maclin had his career year last season and it will be all downhill from here for him.

My concern with Bradford is the ACL injury will affect his throwing mechanics. Nobody really got to see how he recovered afther the FIRST ACL injury. Big big question mark here.

I'm extremely skeptical of his knee. That is the big risk that Chip is taking here. If he showed as much promise with the Eagles as he did early on with the Rams, then I would still be anxious to see what he could do with a few healthy seasons.

I agree that Chip is a gambler, but he's not a fool. I really believe he thinks Bradford can be the guy. We'll see. In the meantime, they have to draft another QB in my opinion, because Sanchez is not viable - especially where you know there is a decent chance you are going to need your # 2 with Bradford.

That makes sense. Not going to dispute that the Bradford trade was a head-scratcher. I guess if he's still around after tonight, then we'll see how he looks in the preseason.

Is he even slated to play in the pre-season though recovery wise?

Totally agree on Sanchez. He blew the end of last season.

But to me either way this is a difficult situation. If Bradford isn't healthy you need a QB, if he does come back healthy, then you have a difficult contract negotiation coming up.

How did it blow up in his face? He's in basically the same situation as before with Bradford having slightly higher upside than Foles.

Hard to see how that could be characterized as blowing up in his face.

He was a no-huddle QB in college. The biggest knock on the Rams during his time here was that they didn't run no-huddle for him.
