I think Alonso replaces Kendricks in that they're both play-makers. Hicks is in the coach-on-the-field mold of Ryans, so I could see him groomed for that role after Ryans is done here.

When they traded for Alonso I assumed he would replace Ryans. But when Ryans got the contract extension I knew something was up with Kendricks.

I've read enough articles and listened to enough interviews to know Chip is not high on Kendricks. I wouldn't be shocked if at some point they release him outright. I think that would be a mistake but Chip is not returning my calls. He has one year left left on his contract. I hope he's on the team this season and they let him play out his contract.
