I really liked Pioneer of the Nile in 2009 so I'm rooting for American Pharaoh. I hate picking the favorite though so I'll go with Materiality. If he can avoid trouble early inside perhaps he has a shot.

After all the hype, I think it was a pretty non-descript race. It really needed the 3 horse to get out cleanly on top, but he ran into trouble.

2:03 and change? Still not seeing any kind of "super horse" here

I'll be interested in the final timings. Visually it looked like Frosted had to have had one of the strongest final 1/16ths. Portends good things in the Preakness perhaps?

Talking to my old man after the race and we were marveling at the idea Secretariat would've won that by 4 seconds.

Well, *I* was marveling. Dad was just talking about it because he'd actually seen him run.

I mainly liked saying "Seize the Derby" and pretending it was witty. But he ran like dogfood after something like six near consecutive wins. Hideous ride.
