  • I was very surprised they didn't draft OL

I like that chip is addressing some things that fat boy would have left alone for years. Hopefully some of these fucks can play.

Football stats are the most easily abused but FWIW:

Of the 57 offensive linemen on the Patriots', Colts',
Seahawks', and Packers' rosters, 28 were undrafted. That's 49 percent
of them, and those 29 linemen who were drafted include five who were
selected in the sixth or seventh round.

You deride stats in one thread and then give us chips 20-12 in another. Very bipolar of you!

People are overreacting. They cut loose one player on the OL Todd Herremans G. They have two players on the OL who can't be replaced. Jason Peters and Lane Johnson. And they weren't getting anyone who could replace either of them.

The other factor that has people worried is Mathis. If he comes back (and performs well), I don't think we'll have any problems. I expect big things from Johnson (no pun intended).

Actually I "derided" the importance of 20-12 after two seasons. Total consistency.

Mathis will back unless he decides to retire. He's 33 and will make $6.5 this year and $7 million next year. The Eagles won't release him. He was a journeyman before the Eagles signed him off the street. He's outperformed his contract and he wants a new one. He's not going to get one and no one's going to trade for him at his age and the money he wants. If he doesn't want to play he's giving up $13.5 million in the next two years. He would have to be crazy.

I made a mistake. I included his signing bonus subtract $2 million.

I don't know, he's been going all scorched-earth on Twitter lately. He basically told Chip to suck his balls on Saturday night. I can't see him coming back.

I'm not sure Mathis has enough of the locker room's loyalty to survive tweeting that without some consequence.

Doubt it. We all know what it means, but I think they'd have a hard time making a suspension stick for Tweeting "Deez".

I really don't know where the guy is coming from on this. There's zero chance he gets a new deal, and he's about to Tweet himself into a serious pay cut (if he gets released).

Hopefully it blows over. He's a heck of a guard. But I can't see that happening right now.

I agree. I like him, but he's acting irrationally. When his contract expires, he'll be what, 35-36? Gimme a break.

Chip needs to protect the #culture and release him.
