  • Bad train accident in Port Richmond/ Frankford, Phila.

    Does not look good.

I've taken this route many times over the years. I don't know the exact location but I wouldn't be surprised if the accident happened at the area called "Frankford Junction". There is a major junction of many tracks there and a lot of switches.

Really tragic. And again philly folks taking a hit

This time from a local, former congressman Murphy:

"“[People] didn’t care about anyone else, so stepping over people and stuff,” he said. “So I pushed out the emergency window. I had to lift myself up because it was kind of on the ceiling and then lifted people up. About eight or nine people got out.”

There probably were more people from New York than from Philadelphia on the train at that point in its journey. At 9:30 pm I would guess a lot of people were returning to NYC after a business day from points south.

Yes, that area is about 15 minutes out of the Phila. station heading towards NYC.

Spoken like a true politician. Making himself a hero. If he was rescuing half the train how the hell did he have enough time to take pictures of cops and firemen rescue people from his train car? I call BS.

                Train speed limit

Drops from 70 mph to 50 mph around that area. They've recovered the data recorders and now they're saying the train was traveling faster than 100 mph when it derailed.

I thought it was a little odd that he was posting pictures on Twitter right after it happened.
