    The true heroes were getting ready to undertake the great crusade! With all the stupid useless bullshit that we subjected too in the present, just doing my part to make sure they are never forgotten!

    So to all those who paid the ultimate price in storming those beaches and fighting their way inland, thank you!!!!

    And thanks to all those who served, are serving, and who will serve! You were, are and always will be a beacon of inspiration!

        One married to my mother's sister, and one my mother's brother. Both in the 101st. Lived through Bastonne.

          Watching DDay in HD on history channel 2, I've never been more proud to be an American!! The next time I have a headache or whatever, I'll think back to what these guys fought through and stop bitching!

          DB, I don't know if your uncle's are still with us, but if they are please say thanks for me!

            71 years ago tonight;

            I was probably lying on our living room floor in front of our Floor model, multi band radio listening to the BBC News.

              Tom Brokaw was spot-on when he labeled them as the Greatest Generation.

              Never in my life had I seen a movie audience react to a movie at it's conclusion as when the wife and I saw Saving Private Ryan. When the lights came on everyone just stood up quietly and walked to the exits like zombies...just overwhelmed by that extremely powerful flick. As anyone who has seen the movie can attest the storming the beach scene is something you never forget...cinematic brilliance, IMO. I can only imagine the anxiety and fear which pulses through your body as your waiting for the door to drop to be thrown into that hell-ish situation.

              Thanks for the heads-up on the anniversary.

                Literally Or Figuratively?

                If you mean literally you must be older than dirt!

                  My First Wife's Father Was A Crewman In A Higgins Boat

                  His landing craft was taking Brisitish and Canadian troops to Sword and Juno when it was hit by a morter round. He was thrown clear but his friend was on board and was going down with it when Dad grabbed his life jacket and pulled him clear.

                  My mother-in-law never knew it until after Dad died and the guy called her from North Carolina. He told her, "He saved my life," and when she said, "He really liked you a lot," the guy said, "No -- he really did" and told her about it.

                      First time in awhile I didn't change the channel during the never-ending circle jerk of useless dogshit commercials pedaling more useless shit that no one needs or wants to watch!
