That Evan Mathis was offered a slight bump to his deal in 2014 and turned it down. He changed his mind in 2015, but the deal was apparently off the table once Chip got personnel control from Howie.

I don't feel sorry for Mathis. He is already paid pretty well.

This reminds me of Kyle Lhose. The Phillies made him an offer and he turned them down indignantly. When he realized there was no market for him, he came back and the Phillies said "GFY!"

Mathis needs to man up and accept the situation he made for himself.

Sounds right, guys think they are worth more than their contract and then find out nobody else wants them like Mathis. If he does not show up kiss Chip's ass and beg for forgiveness he is an idiot. If they cut him him might get the league minimum.
