  • Eagles signing OL John Moffitt

3rd round for pick the Seahawks. Got traded to Denver and retired at age 27. Looks like he's out of retirement.

From a #culture standpoint, the move is puzzling. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has a rundown of Moffitt's off-field transgressions:

Moffitt, 27, was arrested about 4 a.m. CDT Sunday outside a Chicago nightclub after allegedly punching a man who confronted Moffitt about selling drugs inside the club, according to numerous reports. When police cuffed him, he was reportedly in possession of 10 grams of pot, 1 gram of cocaine and four pills of ecstasy.

The former lineman has made other “dumb mistakes.”

During his time with the Seahawks, Moffitt had several run-ins at Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square and the Eastside’s other Kemper Properties, from which Moffitt was banned in early 2012. After the ban, he was arrested June 14, 2012, for allegedly urinating on a parked car near Bellevue Square mall, and was caught trespassing again that August at Lincoln Square’s Paddy Coyne’s bar.

Is it possible that after totally screwing himself over he woke up one morning and decided to get his act together?

Either that or he will be a Fireman in 6 months.

...suspects his addiction issue may return once the $$$ starts to flow again.

Hope I'm wrong and the guy can clean up, turn it around and become a contributing player.

Apparently he trained this offseason with Lane Johnson at Jay Glazer's place, so he might've put in a word for him.

Well, Seattle is also in Washington which is next to Oregon so maybe that too.

Could be, seems Chip is a bit like Obi-wan Kenobi knows all sees all.

He went to school in WI where drinking is an Olympic sport. He's one of the big hog OLs the Badgers trotted out every year.
Kid can play, he just got caught up in being a party guy... with cash.
If he has his head screwed on straight, it'll be quite the gift for a guard-needy team

Exactly. It's a one-year deal, and they can cut him easily. This guy is a band-aid to get through desperate times on the OL, and if he conforms to the culture maybe he gets re-signed.

I'm just glad to see ANYTHING happen in terms of OL acquisitions.
