  • OT: hotel recs. for gayte

EFiMD was gracious enough to make a ticket available and I just booked my flight. Can you guys recommend a hotel close the the stadium? I'm coming in Sat. night and leaving Mon. morning so I'm not getting a car.

Center City or just stay near the sports complex. In either event - I hope you have Uber.

I usually hotwire a room in Center City and take the subway or a cab to the game when I am staying overnight. You might be better off in the airport area since you are flying in and out of the city.

On the other hand if he has no car, it might make more sense for him to stay in the city and only pay for two cab rides to and from the airport, while walking or taking subways for the rest of his stay instead of having to take cabs to go anywhere he has to go from the hotel from Saturday to Monday.

Yeah, unless you are planning to rely solely on hotel facilities, there really aren't any non car accessible restaurants/bars near the airport. I guess I was thinking if Zubaz was going to pick him up in the Zubus on the way to/from the game that might work better.

Center City. CC. Radison Blue 17th & Locust is a great value. Loads of Restaurants and bars. Only 3 blocks from subway that takes you direct to stadium. Plenty of taxis that will take you to the AP. ASHTON CIGAR BAR on walnut to finish the night.

I just threw it out there ... if he likes reading books, watching tv and eating room service chicken fingers he could just take one cab to the game and someone is likely going past the airport on the way home.

But if he wants to check out city shit ...

Yeah, not a bad idea. I'll probably stay center city. I grew up in the area but haven't been back since the vets last game.

Now I need a restaurant recommendation.

I agree with you. Without a car I would much rather be in CC than in the airport area. Also without a car it is much easier to get to the stadium from CC than the airport area.

Re: restaurants, this place was good last summer when I took some friends from Madrid there on the recommendation of people on the board. Of course, I haven't been there in a year, so you probably want confirmation from others that it has kept up its quality.

Were you with me and Mike when we ate at Good Dog Bar because I saw it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives?

Pretty good food for a bar.

Yeah, that was good bar food. By the way I found another couple of duck pot pies here in NYC.

                            How could I forget that?

Now I remember telling you I found the DD Eagles donut at the place on the corner across the street ... but unfortunately we determined that the karma only comes from the DD on Bristol Pike.

The one at Irvington for 30 bucks better give me a hummer also.

Didn't see the one in the brunch article for Five Leaves on the website menu.

Both look like pretty good places though.
