    Simple physics would tell us that some significant force is required to launch an object like that. On top of that, there's no telling what kind of heat jet fires from the bottom of that object. Yikes/.

      just read more details

      Apparently they tried to light it earlier and it didn't launch, so they thought it was a dud. The dope picked up the tube and started waving it over his head and it exploded, so probably both launch and main charges went off simultaneously. probably blew his head off

          Mortars can be re-fused and they may not explode when expected if that's done. When they made them legal in MD my cousin got a shitload and we put together a show. In order to light multiples from a distance, we re-fused the mortars with longer fuses.

          Now, we didn't hold them in our hands, but some of the ones we re-fused ignited much lower than we expected.

          Needless to say, that was the last fireworks show we put on.
