The classic Philly sports fan mindset. It's not right or wrong - it is what it is. Both a shame and a mantle of pride. Love and hate in constant turmoil.

i read the article. If you can get to the bottom, it's clear that they merely mean the cowboys sell the most jerseys and merchandise, REGARDLESS of anything they cowboys are actually doing on the field.
In other words, the cowboys have the most clueless casual fans in the USA that have never been to Dallas or Texas in general.
From the article: "To truly understand fan engagement, it’s important to statistically control for temporary changes in the environment. This is a huge issue in sports because fans almost always chase a winner. "

Here is the clueless casual fans in the middle of bumfuck Ohio. This was an 8-8 season.
My Favorite.....in the house of our biggest rival ... with one of the greatest rivalries in sports. That was an 8-8 season
Tony Romo finds DeMarco Murray on 4th and 10 to beat Washington 24-23. View from FedEx Club level section 337.
Oohh look. It's the defending SB champs in the most dangerous stadium in the middle of the season. Can you count the white Jerseys at Century Link ?
I was at the Cowboys Ravens game in 2012. Ravens stadium also has a proud fanbase....and there was easily 25%+ Cowboys fans there. That was an 8-8 season.
So we not only travel better than any other fanbase (regardless of record)...we have to pay out the ass for the privilege to do it.
I'm dropping about 3K + to fly/travel to games this season.
That's pride bitch.
