  • Eagles trade Boykin to Steelers for a 5th in 2016

Boykin is in the last year of his contract and I suspect that Sheppard is going to step into that spot.

Boykin probably wants starting CB money.

Chip Kelly is in complete control. We all know this.

Very different that the Reid (FF) days when Banner was pulling the contract strings and had final say. Some might tell you otherwise but they are EL-WRONGO.

If it weren't for Demeco's health concerns

You'd probably see Kendricks shipped out in a similar fashion. Still can happen.

I'm interested to see what the terms of the conditional 5th pick.

Boykin was originally a 3rd round pick, so I imagina compensatory pick in 2017 would have been a 6th or so?

net loss of free agents. Not trades.

The fifth becomes a fourth if boykin meets a certain amount of playing time. I think boykin was also a fourth round pick.

I know that much, but nobody knows the exact formula so I was projecting some form of compensation.

With such a strong secondary, why not??

                  First paragraph spells it out:

A total of 32 compensatory choices in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft have been awarded to 14 teams, the NFL announced on Monday at the league's annual meeting in Arizona.

I don't think Davis wants to go to nickel as much. They'd rather keep their LBs on the field and bring safeties down to cover the slot.

                          Seems like fair compensation.

I think Sheppard wins the spot.

The net loss of players is the only thing they make clear in that paragraph. The "better compensatory free agents" aspect is subjective. The NFL will assess a value on Boykin next year based on his play. I believe the round he was selected is part of their consideration, too.

I was simply trying to project his value based on observation over the years.

Boykin was a 4th rounder after he broke his leg in college.
