  • Advice for Watching Eagles Games in Orange County, CA

I just moved out to Orange County, CA. The original plan was to get DirecTV in order to get the NFL package. Now it seems like we might not have a place to put the dish that would get a signal. Anyone have any advice? If not for ways to watch the games at home, then for solid Eagles-friendly sports bars?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure you can buy the a package that includes the Internet-portion only.

If not, find a family member or friend who has DTV and get their password so you can get the online access.

There's no place on your roof that has access to the sky?

Philly's Best in Irvine. It's off of barranca.
500 internet fights, that's the number I figured when I first joined igglephans. 500 internet fights and you could consider yourself a legitimate internet-tough guy. You need them for experience, to develop leather skin. So I got started. Of course along the way you stop thinking about being tough and all that. It stops being the point. You get past the silliness of it all. But then...after...you realize that's what you are.

The apartment community I'm in won't let us put one on the roof. They've got a sweetheart deal with the local cable company, I think. Patio and balcony are both too low, apparently.

I live in Irvine, so this is promising. Thanks.

GM, I'll look into that. Appreciated.

I lived for a period of time in Orange, Huntington Beach, Fullerton, and over at the outskirts of Santa Ana. At each place I used a Home Depot tripod designed for SatTV, and stood it on the porch or patio. DirectTV signal was fine.

Have since cut the cable cord, so I use streaming.

                Look into the Web-based subscription.

If you try to order online, it may block you out because if it identifies your building as a non-apartment. You can probably call them and say you have no place for a dish and get it done that way.

That's exactly what I ended up doing. Took a lot of back-and-forth to verify I could not attach a dish to the building, but they eventually sent me an override email to let me sign up for the web-based. Cost $200 for the season.

Thanks to all for the advice. You guys rock.
