  • Re: Illegal immigration

I would ask these puppet heads: Do you think that there is a demand in this country for inexpensive labor? If so, do you think that this demand is being filled by illegal immigrants? Then I would ask: Have you ever had an illegal immigrant clean the gold-plated toilets in your mansion? Lock it.

What is your point? Do you believe our border should be open for anyone to enter?

My opinion is we need to open up routes for LEGAL immigration for many people to enter.

The problem is is that it is pretty much impossible/illegal for people now to immigrate unless they are sponsored by a high tech company. (See H1-B visa)... or perhaps if they marry a citizen.

I am the son of immigrants. One branch of my family in the 1800s, the other branch around 1900. I do not want to deny that opportunity to others.

His point is that there is a demand for cheap labor in this country and that as a result plenty of businesses and rich individuals benefit from a loose immigration policy. BECAUSE the undocumented immigrants are willing to work for less and no one involved pays taxes.

Agreed, legal immigration is the best option.

            My point is that....

...where there is a demand, there is a supply. Businesspeople in this country WANT illegal immigrants here. Don't kid yourself. They want to make a PROFIT and a nice way to do that is to pick up an illegal and pay him $4 an hour and give him no benefits. Same reason U.S. businesspeople have shipped jobs to China. THAT is where you can make BIG profits.

So you would ask the candidates on stage if their companies have hired illegals at $4 an hour... ok.

Big companies tend to not hire illegals, and illegals, in San Diego at least, do not work for $4 per hour.

going rate in San Diego for day laborers is $ 10/ hr dependent on which corner you pick them up on.

But the imported labor is only a small part of the equation. Corporate America needs consistent growth; whether that is toilet paper or Ipads. And you farkers are only reproducing at a puniferous rate. Immigrants on the other hand tend to have more kids and buy more clothes and eat more food etc etc

That's the part of immigration that most fail to appreciate. We all grew up in a consumer- based economy; for the most part they didn't. At least not at our levels. They lived their whole lives without a Swiffer or teeth-whitening Colgate.

By importing people ( read: consumers) here and teaching them the importance of keeping up with the Jones's- the US economy continues to show growth and Corporate America is happy. "Our" birth rates are at an all- time low and that's bad for business.

The politicians make speeches and talk about building walls- gotta keep the boogeyman out. That's just pandering

The same lobbyists that line their pockets know with great certainty that Kimberly Clark and Proctor & Gamble are just fine with more people wiping their asses with double-fluffed Charmin and blowing their noses into aloe-infused Kleenex

The whole thing is a farce.
Follow the money - and the money says more consumers are better for the US economy and Corporate America.
And that's why it'll never change

How about if business owners stop hiring an immigrants and start hiring out own U.S. citizens. I myself am a business owner and would not hire any immigrant for any price for any reason.

That was some high comedy last night.

Thought Rubio and Dr Carson did well.

Twitter was hilarious last night during the debate. Jeff Ross had a great ZING on Chris Krispie.

Wasn't really a debate. More like concurrent interviews.

I'd like to see a debate where they ask all of the participants the exact same questions. To me the questions seemed to be designed to favor some people over others.

                        Agreed on the comedy aspects.

                          I'm not talking about corporations

I'm talking about thousands and thousands of small businesses. Landscapers, restaurants, daycare, sheetrockers, maids, the list goes on and on. Christ, I have friends who need their house painted and they go down to New Brunswick and pick up these guys and pay them in pizza (and a few bucks an hour).

I thought Carson was dreadful. Same for Paul. No semblance of being viable candidates.

Christie better than expected - expectations were low. I wanted him to fight with Trump rather than Paul or Huckabee. He at least offered the realist vs. idealist position even if I didn't totally agree with his poaitions.

Rubio not too bad but probably a cycle or 2 away from real contender imo.
Jeb stilled seemed like his heart isn't in it.

Chrisitie and Rubio moved the needle for me as viable candidates more than anyone else.

Walker was really scripted. I think he may gain traction though.
Cruz was Cruz. Huckabee was Huckabee.

Kasich should run for the Democratic nomination. He'd lose but he's a crappier 2016 version of Huntsman who hates ?uestlove and The Roots.

But let's be honest, the main reason for tuning in was The Donald but the best reason for tuning in was Straight Outta Compton.

                              I liked Rubio too

Trump is ridiculous. Surprised he wasn't wearing that cheesy red hat
