Reports said Shepherd got the first shot at the slot corner position with the first team D after Boykin was traded.

Remember Thurmond was a slot corner before being moved to S. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the real #1 slot corner.

Melchoir previously speculated that they will use more base defense and less nickel. I've heard this reported elsewhere.

Thurmond's ability to play the slot is one reason this is possible. I suppose the athleticism and depth at ILB is another.
