  • I'm trying to figure out this "Pay as We Play" deal

Got this email from the Eagles today:

This season, the National Football League is offering an Early "Pay-as We-Play" Option to Season Ticket Members of all 32 NFL teams for potential postseason home games. The Early Option incentive allows you to lock in your regular season price for the Wild Card Round, should the Eagles host a Wild Card game at Lincoln Financial Field.*

The Early Pay-as-We-Play option is valid through September 8, 2015. Click Here to take advantage of this offer and reserve your playoff ticket package online. By doing so, you are reserving tickets for all potential playoff games at Lincoln Financial Field. Your card will not be charged unless the Eagles qualify to host a home playoff game.

There is no penalty if you choose not to take part in the Early "Pay-as-We-Play" Option. You will receive playoff communications with traditional playoff pricing at the appropriate time should the Eagles be in playoff contention. Click Here to see 2015 playoff pricing.

If you have any questions concerning this information, please contact the Eagles Fan Services department at 215-463-5500 or email stm@philadelphiaeagles.com.

We look forward to seeing you at Lincoln Financial Field as the 2015 season gets underway!

*The regular season price lock is offered for the Wild Card round only. Should the Eagles qualify to host the Division round, standard playoff pricing will apply.

I don't see any advantage for the Eagles in this. I have to buy playoff tickets to keep my PEL anyway.

Maybe it's because the NFL has had problems selling playoff tickets in other cities so they want to incentivize people to reserve playoff tickets.

The advantage is 5 months of float.

No float. It says your card isn't charged until they qualify, but.....

It will mean that the amount of the tickets will be "reserved" on your card; in other words no longer available to you.

Still, if you don't care about losing that amount on the credit line it seems like a good deal for the purchaser.

I missed that part. But can they really put a hold on for that long?

I'm pretty sure they can once the cardholder has made the reservation.

The BAC I worked for did that all the time with promotions.

It looked too good to be true so I had the wife read it and she came to the same conclusion that its worth it, so I jumped on it.

Im not sure if saving $20 for the wildcard round is worth them holding $470 on my card until January.

The NFL had some issues selling out wild card tickets so they are trying to fix it. With some divisions/wild cards not decided until late on the last Sunday of the season, they only had a few days to sell tickets for the wild card games.

                        Ill just wait

I use my personal bank account for my tickets i cant see letting them hold 470 just in case for four months. Ill pay the 170 if they host a wildcard game.
