  • WOB: Wednesday fun fact

It's hard to believe that beisbol could have a "first time in beisbol history event", but it had one last night.

For the first time in history, all 15 home teams won. The closest before last night was when 12 home teams won in 1914!

    I find this pretty neat.

That's hard to believe with the amount of games played and longevity of the sport.

Some quick math shows that historically, home teams win 54% of the time. There are approximately 156 15-game nights (6 out of 7 days for 26 weeks) during an MLB season. As such, you'd expect all 15 home teams to win on the same night once every 66 years. Considering that this is only the 18th season that there have been 15-game nights since AZ and TB joined the league in 98', it's fairly unlikely that it would have happened this quickly.

As an aside, all 15 road teams winning on the same night should happen once every 733 years.
