I don't really care either way, but I just don't see it from the tea leaves I'm reading based on who played in that game and when.

Most likely they keep six WR. Matthews, Agholor, Huff and Ajirotutu (special teams) are locks.
I think Austin makes the team. Veteran presence, cheaper and better than Cooper. Granted that's a low bar but I think he's in.
So it comes down to KKK or Bailey. Cooper doesn't play teams, has no upside and a ton of baggage. Which one would you keep?

Ain't going anywhere. When you take a 2m plus cap hit in addition to his current cap hit, a guy that can block as well as him is not going anywhere. If guys develop, maybe next year.

After seeing the production from the young WRs without Ertz around to attract attention I don't expect to see nearly as much Cooper as we saw last year.

I don't think it's just the cap hit

It's a lot easier to write off a cap hit when it is signing bonus that is already paid. That is a sunk cost and will hit the cap at some point either way.
In Riley's case, they would need to shell out $3 mil of CASH to him when cutting him to play for another team. That's a lot tougher to do.
Next season, he has no guaranteed base salary, and I assume he will be a goner.
This year it doesn't make much sense, unless keeping him means cutting another WR that they think has a huge upside.
