  • Optimism ain't Kool Aid

I admit to being a high ranking crew member of the Chip Ship, and a big part of the attraction is he ain't FF.

That said, Kelly's not a rookie anymore, and while he has yet to win a playoff game, its a fact that nobody, not Walsh, not Lombardi, not Landry won 20 games in their first two years.

I also dont put a lot of stock in the notion that going back to the college is his safety net. You could say that about most NFL coaches. It's true the guy rolled the dice with the roster purge but I cant blame him there. Coaches are hired to be fired and if he's going to be fired he may as well go out on his terms and with his players.

Looking at the division, I think the Eagles have a really good chance to win it if Bradford can stay healthy.

    Level of agreement 100%

What I see out there, at the very least, is a well-prepared, organized, and executed offense...right from the start (single player failures notwithstanding). I so don't miss the slow to get their act together teams under Reid, isn't 2004 like the only year we started out hot? Blown timeouts because they couldn't get plays in on time, the list goes on. That's the part I like about the new iggs.

I believe there is a little bit of Kool Aid being passed around, although it is nothing like the binge drinking that was going on during the early days of the Reid (FF) area.

This season will reveal a lot, IMO.

Reid's Eagles literally put me to sleep

at the end of the day sports is entertainment and Kelly's Birds are fun to watch.

          I respect that opinion

look we all know about the championship drought, expectations and in my case, advanced age. I'd like to see an Iggles parade.

But overall I really like what I have seen thus far of the Chip Kelly era, last year's end-of-season crash and burn notwithstanding. Pass the Kool Aid!

If nothing else at least Chip doesn't abandon the running game at the drop of a hat. FF's pass-happy crap drove me crazy. I'll never forget the game against the Bengals when McNabb had a leg injury(ankle?) from the week before and that hard-headed dope had him dropping back fifty times.

              exactly...and...

he shows emotion and makes adjustments on the sideline. that's what I want in a head coach.

I think that's exactly why they fell apart last(defense certainly didn't help the situation) year at 9&3 for some reason kelly allowed Sanchez to pass pass pass, I recall going nuts wanting them to run more. Instead Kelly seemed to allow Sanchez to go threw progressions over & over...

I see no Kool Aid at all. Chip is a quality, professional head coach.

In the short time he's been here, he's produced 2 ten win seasons. Now he's had the chance to purge the team of the left over Fat Fuck chaff and get his own imprint on the roster.

The defense will be much improved this season and Bradford (with the ever present "if he stays healthy") will deliver an all pro season. Sam is that good a QB, even if he is no RG Knee.

I haven't looked them up but I don't think the career rushing yards of Marino, Brady, or Starr are exactly Hall of Fame.

Agreed. Hopefully he will actually get there and stay there, because Sanchez is going to be a WR killer, and we can't afford to wait. (That's right, I said "we.")

I don't feel particularly great about Bradford, and though shady was a pain in the ass, going to miss watching him play. That being said, the depth Chip has amassed in such a short time is very encouraging. He's shown an ability to learn from mistakes, be it cutting douches like sconces, to adjusting the pace in the end of games. FF is and was a very good coach, but we saw the same mistakes ten years later. Seems different this time. Drafts seem above average. I don't think this is the year, but they should compete for a division and you never know when you make the playoffs. Love what he's been able to do with the front seven. They are young, and nasty. Almost ever move I can clearly see the plan behind it. Big chip fan so far.

                            How about this guy ?

This High School Harry (who never punts) has mastered onside kicks and Rugby- style laterals

Check it out, they are up 29-0 and the opposing team hasn't even touched the ball yet. Now he added Rugby style laterals to their arsenal

At least it's not boring ff football where I could call every play before it's run.
